2019 Adelaide Wind Orchestra Composition Workshop

This is your chance to have your work premiered and recorded by Adelaide Wind Orchestra (AWO) in our final concert of the year, Saturday 23 November.

A key tenet of AWO’s mission is to perform new music by Australian composers. Since founding in 2012, we have performed many Australian works and a significant number of world and Australian premieres, but it is long overdue that we collaborate at the grassroots with Australian composers. The intention of this program is to encourage emerging composers in the early stages of their compositional career to write for this medium that we love. It is with great pleasure that we can announce that applications are now open for the 2019 AWO Composition Workshop.

We invite composers to submit a work between five and ten minutes long for our wind orchestra*. Three works will be selected and will be workshopped by the orchestra conducted by Bryan Griffiths and composition mentors Anne Cawrse, Charles Bodman Rae, and David John Lang over two rehearsals in August & September. One work will be selected to be recorded at our performance on Saturday 23 November alongside works by Ross Edwards, Percy Grainger, Melody Eötvös, and Kirsten Milenko.
